A Timely Lesson From The Book

A Timely Lesson From The Book

Do you believe the Word of God? I found this text in 2019 from 2 Kings 20:16-19: 16-18 Then Isaiah spoke to Hezekiah, “Listen to what God has to say about this: The day is coming when everything you own and everything your ancestors have passed down to you, right down to the last cup and saucer, will be cleaned out of here—plundered and packed off to Babylon. God’s word! Worse yet, your sons, the progeny of sons you’ve begotten, will end up as eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.” 19 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “If God says it, it must be good.” But he was thinking to himself, “It won’t happen during my lifetime - I’ll enjoy peace and security as long as I live.” Isaiah was speaking of an invasion that later came and Judah was carried off captive to Babylon. What was the problem? King Hezekiah was not thinking of his children and the generations to follow.

Do you think the founding fathers of America were thinking only of themselves when they signed the Constitution? They had a daunting task, and they certainly did not have only themselves in mind as they penned it. I have a feeling, as others have suggested, that they burned the midnight oil and wrestled with the question, i.e., what will this look like the future? How is this going to affect those who come after us? They had escaped the tyranny of totalitarian governing, some good/some bad. What would have been your thoughts if you were one of them drafting the Constitution of the United States of America? What would it take to satisfy your mind and heart concerning generations to come? They had those yet unborn Americans in mind. I ask, do you think they would have turned a deaf ear to the silent scream of the unborn?

Two hundred and forty-three years later I ask this question, “What is our responsibility to the next generation?” When the Lord comes will He find faith on the earth, is a good question? Paul wrote to those in a dispute like this: 19 “So then, make it your top priority to live a life of peace with harmony in your relationships, eagerly seeking to strengthen and encourage one another” (Romans 14:19).

I think the world is up in arms against one another, and I want to remind you today of the chalk tracing of the body of Abel, which takes us back to the original sin and its consequence. It is a cold case that shows up in mankind’s DNA each and every time there is a murder. In the garden there was only one rule or law with a consequence, “Thou shalt not eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of, good and evil.” That is where it all started, and today we see that the seed of sin has a shelf life that extends to the day when God says, “Enough, is Enough”. In the Bible, there was a time when every man did that which was right in his own eyes because they had no king, no sovereign. They became a law unto themselves. This was all in spite of the six-shooter commandment, “THOU SHALL NOT KILL”.

Let me try to sharpen our perspective. No, let’s let Paul the apostle make it clearer for us in 2 Thessalonians 2, The Message Translation. “The Anarchist - 2 Now, friends, read these next words carefully. Slow down and don’t go jumping to conclusions regarding the day when our Master, Jesus Christ, will come back and we assemble to welcome him. Don’t let anyone shake you up or get you excited over some breathless report or rumored letter from me that the day of the Master’s arrival has come and gone. Don’t fall for any line like that.3-5 Before that day comes, a couple of things have to happen. First, Apostasy. Second, is the debut of the Anarchist, (THE LAWLESS ONE) a real dog of Satan. He’ll defy and then take over every so-called god or altar. Having cleared away the opposition, he’ll then set himself up in God’s Temple as “God Almighty.” Don’t you remember me going over all this in detail when I was with you? Are your memories that short? 6-8 You’ll also remember that I told you the Anarchist (THE LAWLESS ONE) is being held back until just the right time. That doesn’t mean that the spirit of anarchy is not now at work. It is, secretly and underground. But the time will come when the Anarchist will no longer be held back but will be let loose. But don’t worry. The Master Jesus will be right on his heels and blow him away. The Master appears and puff! the Anarchist ( THE LAWLESS ONE) is out of there. 9-12 The Anarchist’s (THE LAWLESS ONE) coming is all Satan’s work. All his power and signs and miracles are fake, evil sleight of hand that plays to the gallery of those who hate the truth that could save them. And since they’re so obsessed with evil, God rubs their noses in it gives them what they want. Since they refuse to trust truth, they’re banished to their chosen world of lies and illusions.”

I hear the appeal of the LAWLESS ONE in these words, DEFUND THE POLICE. “The law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul, the testimonies of the Lord are surely making wise the simple” Psalms 19:7. Or consider this as an antidote for lawlessness: Psalm 19:7-9 (The Message) 7-9 The revelation of God is whole and pulls our lives together. The signposts of God are clear and point out the right road. The life-maps of God are right, showing the way to joy.

“God bless America, land that I love, Stand beside her and guide her through the night with a light from above.” I believe in you! I believe in America! I believe in the power of prayer and that America is God’s idea.
