A FIREWALL is a system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. You can implement a firewall in either hardware or software form, or a combination of both. Firewalls prevent unauthorized internet users from accessing private networks connected to the internet, especially intranets.
The 21 days of fasting and prayer, in the beginning of 2020, cued my mind like a British shopper at a fish and chips shop that has been awarded, “Best in Britain“. In other words, my mind had been RECALIBRATED to, “I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus Philippians 3:13-14.”
We are all most likely familiar with this verse. Paul was focused on the goal. Eugene Peterson, in The Message Translation, interpreted it like this: “I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me.”
Paul did not feel like an expert when he said, “I HAVE MY EYE ON THE GOAL - I AM OFF AND RUNNING AND NOT TURNING BACK!” If any of you have something else in mind other than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision.
STICK WITH FRIENDS AND THOSE RUNNING THE SAME COURSE, HEADED FOR THE SAME GOAL. There are many out there taking other paths and choosing other goals. They hate Christ‘s cross, but easy street is a dead end street.
Today, we need the FIREWALL of the WORD OF GOD and FRIENDS RUNNING WITH US IN THE SAME DIRECTION. The Passion translation is refreshing, Philippians 3:12 reads, “I run with passion into His abundance...”
Think of these things:
1. I don’t depend on my own strength.
2. I have a compelling focus. 3. I forget all the past.
4. I fasten my heart on the future instead.
5. I run straight for divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal.
Now that is what I call a FIREWALL!
