A Message for Stubborn Souls

A Message for Stubborn Souls

I have always been fascinated by this verse from the pen of Solomon the wise, found in Ecclesiastes 3:10-12 - “I have seen the burden that God has laid on men to occupy them. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also SET ETERNITY in the hearts of men, yet they cannot fathom the work God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to rejoice and do good while they live...”

Consider this in light of this great Bible text, OUR STUBBORN SOULS KEEP CRAVING THEETERNAL. Could this be one of the major reasons why, because God has SET ETERNITY in the hearts of men?

It might do us well to consider Romans 12:3 - “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

I was reading the book of Ecclesiastes the other day and saw something I had overlooked. The word heart is used 32 times in its chapters. Then I thought how many times did Solomon use the word heart in Proverbs. Would you believe 82 times! It is as though he took the electric shock paddles of truth and used the Book of Proverbs and the Book of Ecclesiastes, to RECALIBRATE HIS OWN HEART.

I HAVE HIS WORDS ON MY HEART AND MIND AS I WRITE THIS. “OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART THE MOUTH SPEAKS.” SO, LET’S WATCH OUR WORDS! IT IS A KEEN WAY TO RECALIBRATE OUR HEARTS.

Matthew 12:34-37 - “You have minds like a snake pit! How do you suppose what you say is worth anything when you are so foul-minded? It’s your heart, not the dictionary, which gives meaning to your words. A good person produces good deeds and words season after season. An evil person is a blight on the orchard. Let me tell you something: Every one of these careless words is going to come back to haunt you. There will be a time of reckoning. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation.” (The Message Translation)

I THINK IT IS A GOOD TIME TO RECALIBRATE OUR WORDS, AS WELL AS OUR HEARTS

My stubborn soul is still craving the eternal. Is this what your heart is saying?
