CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM

The apostle John had a bird's eye view of truth. He lived for three years so closely to Christ that he could, at times, feel His very breath.

John 8:32-36

And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free. They answered Him, "We are Abraham’s offspring (descendants) and have never been in bondage to anybody. What do You mean by saying, You will be set free?" Jesus answered them, "I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Whoever commits and practices sin is the slave of sin. Now a slave does not remain in a household permanently (forever); the son [of the house] does remain forever. So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free."

I am sure you realize there are citizens in America who have never taken advantage of the freedoms they have just because they have USA citizenship. The same applies for many who are believers who have never benefited from the privileges we have in Christ.

Jesus had a conversation one day with Jewish believers who claimed freedom because of birth, and Jesus set the record straight by telling them that whoever practices sin is a slave to sin. He went on to teach them this timeless truth, "If the Son liberates you, you are really unquestionably free."

Today, we celebrate the freedom of the United States. However, many who celebrate may be free according to their birth, but still remain slaves to sin while we celebrate freedom.

Freedom reigns in this place!

We believe in you.
