The Appetite For Prayer

The Appetite For Prayer

God revealed His plan to Jesus while He was praying, Matt. 26:40.

For several years, my friend Bob Perdue, traveled with me. I don't remember anyone like Bob. Every morning he would find a blanket, wrap himself in it like an Indian, and pray. It was his tent of meeting. This was his commitment to God, and he faithfully kept it.

Below are a few excerpts from his book titled: Unbroken Prayer Life - The Appetite for Prayer.

  • The appetite for prayer is intensifed by fasting.
  •  The appetite for prayer is your gauge of how hungry you are for God as a believer.
  • The appetite for prayer is an indicator of how important the will of God is in your life.
  • The appetite for prayer is a precursor to Divine Help, ("If my people.....").
  • The appetite for prayer is a window through which Heaven can determine the ernest effectual passion of our hearts. (David said "I desire Thee more than necessary meat".).
  • The appetite for prayer is kindred to the cry of a child for nourishment and nurturing.
  • The appetite for prayer is by God's design to enable us to gain renewal of strength.
  • The appetite for prayer can be lost, and when the elderly lose their appetite, the alternative is death.
  • The appetite for prayer is without question vital to growth in Christ.
  • The appetite for prayer can be enhanced by God's response to men and women in the scripture, such as Daniel, Abraham, Moses, and Elijah (he prayed and heaven withheld the rain, and the ravens fed him).
  • The appetite for prayer is vital to spiritual growth.
  • The appetite for prayer can be dismissed by false concepts of the way God works in the believer.
  • The appetite for prayer is increased by crisis, circumstance, desperation, despair, holy passion, vision, and God's promise, "Call upon Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things....."
  • The appetite for prayer is the one and only way we can change the course of a nation, and or the destiny of our family. Abraham learned this by intercession.
  • The appetite for prayer is revealed to us in scripture by God's intervention in men's affairs.

Life changes when God's people fast and pray!
